Seattle Coffee Gear is looking for a senior accountant to join our fun and dynamic crew! This position is integral to supporting process improvements and maintaining internal controls. So, if you have a passion for creating and owning new processes and improving current procedures, then this is the job for you! This position is located at our main office in Lynnwood, Washington, and reports to the Controller.


Job duties:

  • Maintain an accurate accounts payable aging report and investigate discrepancies among shipping documents, invoices, payments, and credits.
  • Review vendor statements and responds to vendor inquiries.
  • Review coding of company credit card activity, follow up on missing documentation, and ensure use tax is recognized, as needed.
  • Assist with review for weekly check run, and compare payments against approved payment list.
  • Prepare bi-weekly payroll checklist and review payroll.
  • Act as backup for staff accountant role, as needed.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations of merchant accounts.
  • Prepare various schedules for month-end close and record corresponding journal entries.
  • Assist with administration of employee benefit plans.
  • Maintain personnel files and assist with updating various HR documents, including job descriptions and handbooks.
  • Assist with the preparation of weekly reports, including accounts receivable aging and cash projections.
  • Suggest process improvements to increase efficiency or improve internal controls, and assist with implementation. Ensure that the accounting manual is updated accordingly.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports and investigate activity upon request.
  • Maintain filing system for electronic and paper accounting records.


  • Conceptual and practical understanding of U.S. generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum 2 years applicable work experience, public accounting background preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes, and willingness to change processes when asked.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with QuickBooks or other accounting software.
  • Experience with Mac operating systems beneficial but not required.
