Seattle Coffee Gear is looking for a part-time accountant to join our fun and dynamic crew! This position is integral to supporting process improvements and maintaining internal controls. So, if you have a passion for creating and owning new processes and improving current procedures, then this is the job for you! This position is located at our main office in Lynnwood, Washington, and reports to the Controller.


Job duties:

  • Process accounts payable, including investigation of discrepancies among shipping documents, invoices, payments, and credits.
  • Process weekly check run and compile supporting documentation for review.
  • Monitor company credit card activity, import activity to accounting system, and ensure that all purchases have sufficient documentation and approval.
  • Record daily banking entries and reconciles primary checking account at least weekly.
  • Compile bi-weekly payroll changes and assists in payroll processing.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations of cash and credit card accounts.
  • Prepare various schedules for month-end close and records corresponding journal entries.
  • Suggest process improvements to increase efficiency or improve internal controls, and assist with implementation. Ensure that the accounting manual is updated accordingly.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports and investigate activity upon request.
  • Maintain filing system for electronic and paper accounting records.


  • Understanding of U.S. generally accepted accounting principles with respect to timing of expense recognition.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum 2 years applicable work experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes, and willingness to change processes when asked.
  • Excel skills and experience with QuickBooks or other accounting software.
  • Experience with Mac operating systems beneficial, but not required.
